The City of London School enhancements to support growth

The City of London School, also known as CLS and City, is a private day school for boys that was founded in the 15th Century. It was relocated in 1987 to its current home on Queen Victoria Street in the heart of the City of London and required some enhancements and updates, which rpa:group provided architectural services for.

The school required internal alterations and upgrading of its canteen and dining facilities and various upgrades to some of its other ancillary services. The key requirement of these works was not only to generally refresh and update the existing décor, but also to make provision for the anticipated increase in its student population in the coming years.

With experience successfully helping to deliver numerous school projects, rpa:group were appointed as implementing architects on the scheme. Specific elements included the relocation of the kitchen facilities to allow for the ease of flow to the newly fitted out dining area. This has undergone various enhancements and is now a modern and spacious environment, with striking structural features to separate the space, while still allowing for lots of natural light to penetrate. The colour palette is simple and in keeping with the brand colour of the school, with eye-catching wooden panelling to add warmth and texture.

Works commenced in March 2024 and were successfully completed in January 2025.
