What made you chose this career path?
My initial training was as a structural engineer working as one of M&S’s main consultants. I cut my teeth designing and detailing new stores, mainly north of the border. I also got involved with sea defence systems and MOD infrastructure works, both of which enabled me to experience the site environment, which I found stimulated me more than the drawing office. I took an opportunity with one of the large civils company to work alongside their site teams and it was there that my first interest in Project Management in the site environment was born.
What has been the best experience in your role?
Following a few years of working on some wonderful, listed buildings as a contractor and with The Royal Household as the Client, I was offered the role of Property Manager at Windsor Castle. It is hard to top that for me!
How do you see yourself making a difference at the rpa:group?
I will bring with me a wealth of experience, which spans nearly 50 years both as a Contractor and as a PM Client side. I enjoy Project Management and like to think that I will also bring along enthusiasm, energy and a ‘can do’ mentality.
Tell us a bit about your hobbies/ things you enjoy?
My main passion is Motorcycle sport. I used to race in my younger years and was sponsored by Tarmac Roadstone who I was employed by also. I still ride on road and track when I can. I also enjoy time with my family and walking our two dogs and I love reading.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
I am looking forward to working alongside Peter Kilby and all at rpa:group initially on the Elvetham Hotel project, which as a listed building certainly fits my skillset!
