Founded in 1922, Wentworth Golf Club is globally recognised for its associations with professional golf, being the headquarters of the PGA European Tour. In order to continue to be a world-class clubhouse facility, Wentworth required a complete renovation of the interior of its clubhouse, bringing it intrinsically in line with the iconic nature of this golfing destination.
With an internal ground floor area of 3,500m2 and including a ballroom, kitchens, bar and lounge area, the works included a full strip-out and refurbishment, with new lighting, flooring, ventilation and extensive layout realignment. The rpa:group’s Project Management and architectural divisions were originally commissioned to develop and manage the design implementation on site, providing production information, construction detailing and on-site support. Our responsibility subsequently grew to cover full Project Management, including Quality Assurance, on-site construction management, supervision of the project teams (both consultants & contractors) and managing the snagging and completion process.
In spite of significant time pressures, the project was successfully completed in time for the 2018 BMW Championship at the end of May.
