Lockers Park is a long established school for 150 boys, founded in 1874 within a parkland setting near Hemel Hempstead. The school had a requirement to develop an early year’s school to accommodate a co-educational offer, to feed into the prep-school for boys and the partner schools for girls in the district. The requirement was for a two form entry, to include reception, years 1 and 2. The school was to be a completely stand alone from the main school, including external learning and play areas.
The theme for the design was to reflect a pavilion, with clean and simple lines as a single story building, set within the parkland adjacent to the original avenue of trees to the main house. Careful consideration was given to drop off and pick up facilities for parents along with a secure setting that is an absolute requirement for any school. The new school would also not impact on the running and operation of the existing school.
Working in partnership with City Axis, we were able to ensure that the new school successfully opened in Autumn of 2015.
