Halley House Primary School

a welcome renovation

brief

Our Architecture department worked as part of the D&B team with City Axis on the delivery of Halley House School. The school was set to open at Metropole College’s former building at Arcola Street, E8. The Education Funding Agency had purchased the building to ensure future provision of more primary school places in the area. The building was to be renovated to create a stimulating, safe and welcoming environment suitable for primary-age pupils.

insight

The school required the conversion of a four storey building to include a reception roof terrace exterior fencing, along with external play areas, classrooms for the reception children and a downstairs kitchen, hall and office areas, with further works on the first and second floors.

result

The whole building was scheduled to be handed over on 30th October 2015, but with a focused team approach along with early engagement of the supply chain, the team were able to exceed the schools expectations with completion ahead of schedule.
