Evendons Primary School was initially a private home and more recently, served as an independent preparatory school. Now Wokingham’s first ever community led primary free school, it swiftly became one of the most popular schools in the Borough and had as a result quickly outgrown its initial building.
rpa:group were employed as Architects to prepare all of the construction drawings for the expansion. The requirement to increase the size of the school also had to take into consideration the need to preserve the gardens, which form part of its heritage. The existing building is of a traditional construction, with a pitched roof. The works involved part demolition of this, and the design and build of a new two-storey extension.
The resultant expansion has seen the premises arranged over two separate blocks. The new building adjoins the existing building via a glazed link extension and includes eight classrooms, one DT classroom, a staff room, offices and ancillary rooms.
