rpa:group were appointed to deliver a Design and Build solution with Lex Construction for LCPP Ltd, to create a new generation student accommodation development, located in the prestigious College Green area opposite Bristol’s Gothic Cathedral.
The building comprised a 1960’s office block on six floors with a number of retail units on the ground floor. Whilst retaining the front and side facades the rear was extended out at the upper levels to a new curtain walling facade. Windows were replaced and the structure upgraded to meet current specifications. The scheme created thirty six studio apartments and twenty four twin bedroom apartments. Other facilities included a cinema, gym, games room, study rooms and laundry.
Completed on time for the 2011 academic year, the scheme will form the blue print for future developments for LCPP, and their aim to provide student hotels of the most exacting quality.
