KFC’s Tyburn store latest to get new concept

KFC Tyburn in Castle Bromwich is the most recent of the selected restaurants within the UK to undergo a corporate 10-year upgrade to be given the brand’s latest concept.

The front of house and externals are following the new K4.1 concept design, which modernises the brand’s appearance with a vibrant, memorable, and comfortable space, while remaining distinctly KFC. Specific features include exposed ceilings and textured walls, bold graphics, a new self-ordering section and separation of dine in and delivery areas.

The back of house area is incorporating what is called the “Kitchen of the future” design concept, and includes the use of a robotic arm to aid the cooking of fries and chicken. Tyburn was the first restaurant in Europe to incorporate this within its operation.

Having already completed various construction packages for KFC’s branches in the south of England, rpa:group’s Architects are continuing to work with KFC to deliver these image enhancement schemes for selected UK restaurants. Our involvement as Lead Architect includes receiving the brief for each restaurant, generating scheme proposals, and delivering the detailed drawing packs. Works are commencing over a phased roll-out, during the course of 2022, with the Tyburn store successfully open to the public in September.
