Foot Locker’s new Willowbrook concept store comes to Manchester’s Market Street

Aiming to offer appeal to a broader consumer demographic, the Willowbrook concept provides a wide range of merchandise, including many exclusives across leading brands. All product is showcased in vibrant store surroundings, incorporating more colours and character, while still providing a smart and interactive environment in which customers can shop.

Foot Locker needed rpa:group’s architectural team to assist with the transition of one of their existing stores, in Manchester’s Arndale shopping centre, into the UK’s first Willowbrook concept store. We were required to carry out the feasibility for this and produce the tender and construction drawings. Our remit was also to create the spacial and furniture layouts and to carry out all landlord correspondence and permit approvals.

The resulting space offers merchandise in striking displays. Walls of sneakers are both eye-catching and functional, highlighting the wide range of product available. Featured shoes are accentuated in glass boxes, while tiered wooden plinths display a selection of branded clothing and help define the customer journey. Our architectural team worked closely with general contractors and project managers, helping enable the store to be transformed across a basement, ground floor and first floor, with a total area of 738 sqm, in just three weeks.

We are currently working on further Willowbrook concept stores for Foot Locker across the UK and Europe.
