For retailers situated in London’s prime shopping areas such as Oxford Street, simply displaying merchandise is not enough. Competition is fierce and retailers need to deliver the extra “wow” factor. Carphone Warehouse’s brand new store certainly does that. The 150m2, double height retail space is light and spacious and an ideal platform for Carphone Warehouse to showcase its new concept, featuring a bright and vivid new look and feel. Bold graphic squares and rectangles on the walls and ceilings are mirrored by the modern and eye-catching bespoke suspended lighting fixtures. Custom made LED track lighting further illuminates the space.
Bespoke furniture, wall cladding details, signage graphics and an eye-catching new colour pallet adds to the environmental impact. Designated Apple and Samsung display areas are included, showcasing the latest range of smartphone and tablet technology.
The fit out presented various challenges throughout, from very tight lead times to a constantly evolving concept. It was meticulously brought to life by the project management team over a tight three week programme and opened as scheduled at the beginning of September. Elements of the new concept are likely to be rolled out to other stores by the rpa:group’s Project Managers in the near future.
